what's going on?

This is for Doug Hill or Tom Planck, or heck, anyone who's ever been on a lifestyle change for the better. I've been eating so good the last two weeks, and everything's been great. I've kept losing weight. But then, all of a sudden, for no reason, it started creeping back up. I haven't been splurging or anything. I've been eating all the right portions at all the right times and all the right nutrition. Over the last week the pounds have slowly crept up. I was wondering if anyone has any advice?

I need to go to school. I work 3-8 today so this will probably be the only post today.

i am not tom or doug, but if you are doing anything to increase your muscle mass you will gain weight. that could be as little as walking a little more, lifting or running more. at this point in the game, i wouldn't rely so much on the scales as i would on the tape. take your measurements, see what your body is doing as far as changing. you may have increased weight but your measurements may be the same. the scales are sometimes misleading.

mike is right anthony. scales can be misleading...dont live on the scale. scales can give us good benchmarks to keep an eye on. you want to keep body fat % as your measure of success.

also, looking over your blog, you can see a pattern of some poor food choices over the last month or so. here's the most successful way to monitor yourself... create a food journal. keeping track of what you eat will help you realize what youre taking in daily.

finally a piece of advice to live by... "It's not how you live between Thanksgiving and Christmas...but rather how you live between Christmas and Thanksgiving." - make sense?

Good luck and keep the faith.

Im not a fitness guru or anything...but I do know a little bit. Your metabolism may be slowing down from being less active or eating more. Its really not that big of deal just watch your weight and it may go back down. Sometimes my weight fluctuates like 5 lb's at a time. Its possible.

Anth,

Mike is right on. As you know I have been running for about 18 months - upto 6 miles per day. My clothes are fitting differently, but I way exactly the same as I did 18 months ago. I believe it is simply muscle replacing fat and a redistribution of the weight.

thanks for all the advice. me thinks i am going to find one of those tape measure thingies. i think my mom probably has one. as for the poor eating habits, you're probably referring to Chinese and Fudd's, but when I don't mention anything really special, you can bet it's the same old carbs/protein diet. later guys. off to work

I deal alot with food/weight issues with my patients with diabetes I agree with doug sometimes you think you're eating the right foods and right portions and when you actually write it down and look at it you realize you might not be Do a food journal for 3 days and see what it shows you I don't know much about the muscle part but it makes sense to me Do you have a regular exercise regimen? It's a balance between food and exercise You change something in that routine and you are going to see a change in your weight
